Yucky icky fonts in Gnome

Hello,

I installed gnome by using the wiki guide, and I don't know if I missed something or what but my fonts look Terrible!

I don't just mean they look different than other systems, I mean in the terminal, the letters for root@name actually blend on top of each other a little bit making it very hard to read.

It isn't a resolution problem, I am using 1024x768 for that and the other windows and things look good.  The font just looks REALLY bad.

I'm looking over other posts and such that mention fonts but so far I haven't found one that I thought applied to me.  Any ideas?

Re: Yucky icky fonts in Gnome

From a fresh install with only gnome and gnome-extras added, my fonts looked pretty good. After installing OOo, which I'm sure came with some fonts, they looked as good as in Ubuntu.

P.S. Install Liberation fonts. They're neat replicas of MS fonts the folks at Red Hat made.
