old aur packages. i´ve made new

hi,
there are many packages in aur which are outdated or the links to the source files are broken (gstreamer-perl, gmusicbrowser), but these packages are still "maintained". for some packages i made new pkgbuilds and i would like to post them to the aur repositories. what is the usual way to adopt these packages?

If they're not disowned or orphaned I don't think you can adopt them unless someone orphans them for you, you could post your updated PKGBUILDs as comments for the packages over at AUR though.

Please don't create duplicate packages like you did for gstreamer-perl and gmusicbrowser. Instead, if the packages has been out-of date for a long time,  send an email to the maintainer. If you don't get any answer after, say, a few days post on the tur-users mailing list. A TU will orphan the packages for you.

Re: old aur packages. i´ve made new

thanks snowman. there are many out-dated or corrupted packages in aur. for some apps (about 10) i´ve written PKGBUILDS with the new versions, but i don´t want to write 10 or more mails to every maintainer. that´s annoying. imo there should be a central checking system, so that someone doesn´t provide an update (or doesn´t check his package) for some months the package automatically gets the orphaned flag. that is easier for people who want to maintain packages.
the gmusicbrowser package is actually different from the one in aur.there is a stable and an unstable version. the package i´ve submitted is the unstable/development version.

Re: old aur packages. i´ve made new

There is already a feature request in the bug tracker about your suggestion. It hasn't been implemented yet.

I've orphaned  perl-gstreamer as his maintainer seem to no longer maintain his PKGBUILD. Adopt it to replace it with your new PKGBUILD then delete perl-gstreamer-0.09. About gmusicbrowser, I wasn't sure if it was a stable or devel version. It's fine as it is.

About the other PKGBUILD, post the list here or better, catch me in IRC (#archlinux or #archlinux64).  If they have been out of date for a very long time or if the maintainer seems to have left Arch, I'll just go ahead and orphan them (so emailing maintainer won't be necessary).
