I'm getting REALLY tired that every new release of one of the three packages break the ability of amarok to play FLAC files. I fixed this before, but right now I've forgotten how. That's not the point though. The point is, I'm getting really sick of the fact that every time a new version of one of the apckages mentioned gets released, I can't play FLAC files. Although it's really something for upstream, I also wish the devs would put some effort into testing releases, and catch shit like this. plzfixkthxbye.

If current amarok is being built with cmake, there's a problem with one of the modules when looking for FLAC. I can't remember whether i fixed it or not.

Do you mean if I compile amarok from source? If so, then that is not the case. I have the versions installed from the official Arch repo's. The last stime I ran into this problem however, I seem to remember fixing it by compiling it from source.

Amarok and xine engine are playing flac fine here, and my system is completely up to date. Useless, I realize, but a data point nonetheless.

Meh, it's always the same problem - xine thinks that it can't play FLAC files. It doesn't happen with all FLAC files mind you, just some. But it IS fixable by recompiling xine-libs with some flags set ( IIRC ), it's just a major PITA to have to do it manually when it's a known problem.
Alternatively, I could just accept it as punishment for trying to listen to Huey Lewis And The News

If the flac files are tagged, amarok will not play them. Remove the tags w/ id3.
