Need to Refesh Desktop in XFCE

I'm using XFCE, and whenever files are added and deleted from the desktop, the changes don't appear on the desktop until I refresh it (Ctrl+R). Is there something I need to do (like setting a flag or something like that) that would make my desktop always reflect the actual contents of the "~/Desktop" directory?

Thanks.

Hi,

make sure you have fam (or @fam) in the daemon-list in your /etc/rc.conf.

Re: Need to Refesh Desktop in XFCE

Thanks, jean-paul!

I tried running /etc/rc.d/fam start, but that didn't do anything. I added fam to the DAEMONS list and rebooted, which fixed it. I probably only needed to restart XFCE, though.

Thanks for your help smile.

You could also use gamin, it's in AUR. I heard it's not developed anymore, but so is fam.
