DVD Backup

I'm using the "Older Method" described here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mak … _DVD_Video
to make a backup copy of a DVD.  I'm at the point where it says to use transcode to create an audio and a video file.  It says that this step could take 1-3 hours depending on the size of the DVD.  Well, that process has been running for over 15 hours and it's still not done.  I'm backing up a standard length DVD and I now have a 1.4 GB audio file and a 914 MB video file, both of which are still growing, so I know the process is still running but I'm wondering just how long it's going to go.  It's been using about 75% of the CPU this whole time and there's no progress bar or anything.

I've also tried using k9copy, which I've used on Fedora before and thought was very easy but I get this error whenever I run it:

$ k9copy
kbuildsycoca running...
DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.
Error connecting to DBUS : Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
QComboBox::setCurrentItem: (cbInputDev) Index 0 out of range
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 4686, errno = 0
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 4688, errno = 0
QGDict::hashKeyString: Invalid null key
QGDict::hashKeyString: Invalid null key
k9copy: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol ''.
k9copy:

Help with either of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DVD Backup

And it is up and running? Seems like an initial dbus failure causing a wider range of problems within the application which lets it crash.

Re: DVD Backup

From the command line, I enter the command and it idles for like 3 minutes then crashes and gives me that error.  If I click on the icon, I get this:

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtrace, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.

KDE Crash Handler

The application k9copy crashed and caused the signal 4(SIGSEGV).
