Hello,
I have recently got a new Logitech USB mouse. I plugged it in the USB port, and it works fine under Xorg. But I have a minor issue: the red light stays always on. I wish it to turn off when the mouse is not moved. How can I configure it properly?
Besides, when the PC boots, the red light is turned off properly. But when udev is loaded, the light turns on and then it never switches off.
How can I solve this?
Thank you in advance.

Are you sure it can be turned off? I have a microsoft mouse here, and it has 2 red leds: one on the bottom, which will dim if you're not moving the mouse. And one in front of the mouse which is just there for a nice look and will always burn (unless you turn off your computer off course)

this sounds like a physical connection issue ... the light should be on whether or not it's detect and or usable by the OS ... tip: it should also light up at boot, during the POST session or there about, (and prolly turn off again)

Hello,
thank you for the reply. By turning the light off, I meant that it dims, not that it is completely cut off. Anyway, when I plug the mouse when the PC is booting, the red led switches on, then it is dimmed. Later, when udev is loaded, the led becomes bright again, and it's never dimmed again. So I guess it's something related to udev...

or to the driver that get autloaded during udev initialisation?

Yes. By trial and error, I realized the drivers involved with the usb mouse are uhci_hcd and usbhid. But I can't find any suitable parameter to configure them to dim the led...
