When I tried the "startx" command it said:
"Cannot move old log file ("/var/log/Xorg.0.log") to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old"
What's wrong?

The permissions on the file? Mine is 644 and owned by root.

Are you running "startx" as root or as a user?
Do either of these accounts have the right access privileges as well?
Offline
I tried to change permissions, and it worked!
But now I encountered another problem, which is the resolution and the fonts being bad (should have 1280x1024, now it is 640xsomething). I have the right settings (at least resolution is right) in my xorg.conf file.
Any ideas?
I really appreciate your help!

Whoops I was a little slow here...haha
Maybe you could post your Xorg config file so we can look at it? maybe?

And I use Openbox from repos if that matters.

Sorry for the slow reply work let out and I had alot of stuff to do. hahaha
Anyway did you set the resolution for the actual command line?
I found that doing that allowed me to run at a higher resolution (Or I could just be crazy)
I would also try and take out the resolutions that you do not want to use in the config file there, it may help. So the one that says screen depth 24, remove all resolutions that you dont wanna use and leave the one in there you want to run at.
Anyone else have an ideas?

Every time I had xorg.conf file problems, I looked in the xorg log file for any errors or warnings. More times than not It gave me a clue to what was wrong and how to fix it. You might need to specify a mode line in Section "Monitor", as well as HorizSync and VertRefresh specs for your monitor.

The best way which worked for me was with hwd [-x] or [-xa] regarding correct resolution and graphic drivers. When I run xorgconfig, I allways get larger virtual desktop screen (when I am testing if xserver is correct with twm),no matter if I said no.So just do pacman -S hwd and than hwd -xa.After that if all is allright, install your binary drivers from nvidia.I forgot install method for nvidia drivers because now I'm using ati (But it's simpler method than nvidia's).
