3 small questions down to 1

I just had 2 small questions regarding configuration.

1. (Solved)How do I set nautilus to not open a new window when I click on a file, but to just use the same window.

2. Whats the best non-Kde app for playing music that has good playlist selection but also has an equalizer, noted that rhymtmbox has good playlists but no equalizer so sound output is average to say the least.

3. (Solved) Under gnome how do I choose to have sound unmuted by default

1. using configuration editor ~ apps -> nautilus -> preferences -> always use browser

2. xmms perhaps? dunno, i use banshee (no equalizer)

3. if you follow http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Alsa it should set all that up for you (see Restore Alsa Mixer settings at Startup)

Cool yeah i got the alsamixer levels stored and thanks to yo I got the nautlius configured.

with point 2 you use banshee without equalizer, so how do you get the sound quality just the way you want is there an external equalizer that can be used or is playback from banshee by default better than rhytmbox ?

I have always previously used Amarok but on this install I don't want to use any kde apps, and want to see how good I can get everything .

If you're used to amarok you might look into exaile. I haven't used it much since I switched to KDE about the same time I discovered it, but it tries to act like amarok but using gtk libs instead.

Sounds good defintiely worth a try, why is there tho such a lack of players in gtk that have an equalizer and advanced features, I have used 'listen' before as well it also has many good features but just not the sound quality. Maybe its just me but I thought an equalizer would be a prerequisite foe a music player.

Anyway will give exaile a try and let you know how it goes.

if you like it simple, try audacious. it's bmp classic fork. it has pl and eq. it's in extra: audacious-player and audacious-plugins.
