kernel26.img is the "initrd" file, not the kernel. The kernel is /boot/vmlinux26 .

You probably should use sda2. Most systems have converted to libata by now, and use sd* for all disks.

do you have an intel chipset?
if so then "earlymodules=piix" will help.
it really pays to read what pacman tells you when you do a -S operation.
