Ask Danimoth in aur. I'm only including it so it can be packaged. If he changes it, I'll change it.

How with dependencies and KDE ? Do I need gconf and such stuff or clean deps like in beryl ?

cpu huh?

Thanks for the 64 bit packages Deciare! I followed (probably more like stalked) nesl to arch from gentoo and was disappointed when he decided not to do 64 bit packages. :'(
Keep up the good work guys. I'm just glad they finally chose a name for the project! (and coming from gentoo I really don't mind downloading ~30 megs of gnome deps as long as I don't have to compile them.)
I think cpu was asking about all the extra gnome deps if he is only using KDE? Yes there are a lot of deps, but I'm sure they'll sort that out before there's an official relase.

That's compiz-git's issue, and I don't maintain that. I just build it in the repo. That's why I said to ask Danimoth in the aur.

Any chance of adding Kristian's ezoom plugin to the repo please?

ianegg, It's now in the repo. Enjoy

Thanks!
doh! I'm on 64 bit I'll just have wait until Deciare syncs up. (assuming she's planning to?) It sounds like an exciting plugin.

Oh ah, you can just get the PKGBUILD and install it yourself.. http://arch.nesl247.org/compiz-fusion/c … t/PKGBUILD
Just download it, put it in an empty dir, and run makepkg -i (or -iS if you need to use sudo)

I mean does compiz-fusion need so much gnome dependencies as compiz did? Because I don't need whole gnome while not using this I have KDE and I'm seeking for solution like with beryl - just pacman -S aquamarine and I've got beryl ready without metacity, gconf and all this gnome stuff. This was the way beryl did composite and this way was good.

Compiz Fusion uses compiz as the core window manager. So whatever compiz needs, compiz fusion needs. And as I said, bug danimoth on aur about changing it. If he doesn't by wednesday of next week, I'll go ahead and do it, and contact him asking if he still has interest in maintaining compiz-git.

There's something you should know about the x86_64 (and may also the i686) packages for today (2007-06-21). The animation plugin doesn't work because it was recently reorganised in git, and the organisation isn't yet complete. The developers know about this, and are working on it. If you'd prefer to keep your animation capabilities, please don't upgrade today. ^^;

Nice to see you here nesl247 :-)
Thank you for the repository^^
Did you guys have the problem, too, that every animation was set to the lowest speedlevel? Was very annoying at the beginning because i had to wait several minutes until i could start the settings manager.
Edit: Is there something like aquamarine?

You can try these PKGBUILDs, they contain everything you need and are made without any gnome dependencies and need only a minimum of gtk stuff (for the config app)...
These are the dependencies:
pygtk libxslt libxrandr libxml2 libpng librsvg libxcomposite libxdamage pyrex git
Just use the included script to build and install. After installing you can use "compiz-manager" to start up compiz + kde-window-decorator... If you do not have a nvidia card, you have to modify this script (/usr/bin/compiz-manager)... The rest should be fairly self-explaining. I am using these ones for a couple of days now and there have been no problems (except with compiz itself, but thats another story )...
This is for KDE only, so the only decorator enabled is kde-window-decorator

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

@funkyou: works here nicely except that i had to start kde-window-decorator manually after compiz-manager.
After compiling funkyou's PKGBUILDs there is no longer the slow motion problem. (everything was much too fast now )

Hm, here it starts automatically, but i didnt tested the compiz-manager script that much after finding it at the compcomm forums... Take a look into the script, there is a configurable start delay for the decorator, maybe thats the problem...

The PKGBUILDs are the same as in the AUR, i just modified the build options of compiz-git and added one additional patch from gentoo to fully disable gconf.

funkyou, so my patch for gconf worked? Alright, I'll try and get it submitted upstream.

I just tried it again because i noticed that i still had gconf installed... It doesnt work without
Already tried to apply (doesnt work) and redo this patch, but it seems that the files have changed, and i am not that experienced with the whole automake etc thing...

I'll file a bug report on the compiz bugzilla on fd.o. Hopefully they can fix it (since it should be fixed upstream anyways)

Thanks funkyou for solution

Wow, I just need to comment on this. I haven't installed the package yet, otherwise I won't go to sleep anytime soon
Anyway, I just came to know about this new Compiz Fusion today (I knew that Compiz and Beryl were getting together again, and I was waiting for something to come out soon), I come here and I find the package already there and maintained by someone who upgrades it so often. I am so impressed, when I installed Arch (a couple of days ago) I had the feeling that it was surrounded by a very lively community, and I guess I wasn't that wrong. I think Arch is the distro that will involve me more than any other, and will get me active as well. Thank you all

You're welcome.
And for everyone, I added compiz-fusion-plugins-gears-git (part of the group compiz-fusion-extra), which displays a gear inside the cube when rotating.

Yes i looked into the script and everything seemed fine. But it was indeed the startup delay because every window which was created after 5 seconds had decorators, the ones before didnt. So i removed the delay and now it seems to be working nicely.

That's very cool, thanks
Will be nice when we can put arbitrary items in the cube.
I dunno if it's beyond the scope of your overlay, but would it be possible to add a build of kdesktop with transparency and compiz wallpapers enabled? (Someone posted the patch in a thread on xeffects.) In gentoo it was just a matter of adding the patch to the ebuild, but kde is monolithic here...

Ok, I'm running Compiz-fusion right now, and it works perfectly. Thanks a lot for your work
