Beryl problem with KDE

Hello all,

I just installed arch on real hardware for the first time and I'm trying to get beryl going on KDE but it keeps failing to start and just falls back to KWin. I did a bunch of searching and found no solutions, but some people who had the same problem about 3 months ago (with no resulting fix). So I'm wondering if its just something I doing wrong, because since then I havn't been able to find a post related to the problem after about 3 months ago. Well heres some debug info and the such.

Re: Beryl problem with KDE

I would think you neither either XGL or AIGLX to run.
And I would also considering installing compiz instead, since it's more recent.

Change the DefaultDepth from 16 to 24 bit.

Re: Beryl problem with KDE

Follow the nvidia instructions in the wiki (there should be a link on the beryl page, linking to a page for X configuration). I can see from your xorg.conf that you didn't read those instructions.

Also, as said already, your DefaultDepth must be 24, not 16.

Re: Beryl problem with KDE

I used the nvidia-xconfig tool to create the xorg.conf. I did follow the beryl guide in the wiki, and I will change the default depth. Btw, the cube and some other effects work, just not the window decorations.

Re: Beryl problem with KDE

Okay great, i got it working! All I had to do was add a few arguments to nvidia-xconfig (from the nvidia page) and change the default depth, and it worked. Thanks alot!
