nVidia GeForce 7300 LE PCI-E & nvidia driver: low framerate

Hi!
I've just switched from Debian to ArchLinux and I'm really happy. ArchLinux really rocks as well as the rolling-release system does. I think I kinda fell in love with it.
Ok, I haven't really posted to express my feelings and eventually annoy you, but because of an issue I've been getting. smile
I've installed the nvidia proprietary driver, configured Xorg through nvidia-xconfig, but I'm getting only about 370 fps with glxgears. Moreover, I have a kind of "garbage lines" for a while when I open some applications (such as firefox) or xfce's menu (in this case just the first time), as if it showed an old cached data. I don't know whether the two issues are related or not.
Here's my xorg.conf:

Re: nVidia GeForce 7300 LE PCI-E & nvidia driver: low framerate

As far as I know, this is a very low-end graphics card, with 64bit memory and very low clock rates. Btw. glxgears is no benchmark, it's just a test - don't give anything on these framerates or even compare them to other graphics cards.

Use UNIX or die.

Re: nVidia GeForce 7300 LE PCI-E & nvidia driver: low framerate

Yeah, I know, but I don't think it's that bad. Anyway, I don't play games, so I don't really need it, but it's just my will to set everything up perfectly.

Anyway, any hints about the other issue?

Re: nVidia GeForce 7300 LE PCI-E & nvidia driver: low framerate

I have geforce 6200 and I get 1200fps with glxgears. And I can play Doom3 using medium settings. You probably have something misconfigured.
Here is my xorg.conf.

Re: nVidia GeForce 7300 LE PCI-E & nvidia driver: low framerate

For the record, then I discovered what was causing both the issues: it was composite!
In fact, after disabling it, the framerate jumped above 1000 FPS and I had no more "garbage lines" when surfing the menus and open blank windows.

Maybe this could help someone else. smile

I hope the next nvidia driver release will fix these issues (especially the latter).
