Mac OS X like applauncher

Hi there!

I am looking for an applauncher for KDE(mod) like OSX has at the bottom.
I mean that icons are getting bigger when highlighted and so on.
Is there any tool that does the trick?

Lol. He asks for an app without DE dependencies, and you suggest avant, which depends on gnome-desktop and gnome-python

I remember playing with engage (now probably itask), which was quite fine, except it depends on e17. But if you are adventurous...

You could try wbar from AUR. It has few dependencies and uses fake transparency. (especially nice if you can't use composite )

XFCE4 looks a LOT like Mac OS X in this regard, although the launcher icons don't expand when highlighted. However, the basic idea is there, and it is even more functional in that you can add other stuff (not just launchers) to the XFCE4 panel. Give it a whirl - it is really nice. It will make you wonder why you have used Gnome and KDE for so long!

Any other dock programs (not KDE or Beryl based) that work like WindowMaker docking? The behavior I need is to show a dot beside the launch icon when the corresponding program is loaded and then also minimizing back in to that icon when it is iconified. I tried installing Engage from AUR but received

error: 'examine-cvs': not found in sync db.

So I tried itask but that has some sort of graphical glitch displaying a grey block and it doesn't seem to have a program launcher built in anyway, which causes duplicate sets of icons in the dock, e.g., Firefox in my quick launch box but also when open in the itask bar... seems like a waste of space.

I have used XFCE4 for nearly a year. I have been through Gnome, *box, Pekwm, FVWM,... But in the end I will stick with KDE.
