Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

When I run compiz --replace, I get this error:

compiz (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

Which is weird because Beryl runs fine with the same settings. I uninstalled beryl then installed compiz-fusion. Any ideas?

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I had this error when direct rendering was not working, try:

glxinfo | grep rendering

Which graphics card are you using?

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

glxinfo | grep rendering returns

libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
direct rendering: Yes

I am using an Intel integrated graphics chip with i810 driver.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Ok, that's very odd, since direct rendering works and you've got a good graphics card for Linux (I've got an ATI, which sometimes is difficult to get working). I'm sorry but I'll have to pass this question to somebody else, since I'm no expert (plus, I have just installed Arch a couple of days ago), especially in Intel graphics card, since I only had all sorts of problems with my *dear* ATI.

Should that be 'Xorg.0.log' instead of 'Xorg.log.0'? 'Xorg.log.0' doesn't exist, 'Xorg.0.log' returns:

Add import gconf to the top of /usr/share/compiz-icon/compiz-icon.py

It's a known bug. I don't recommend using compiz-icon anyways at the moment. I'll post as soon as its fixed.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I have everything working on my ATI 9000 mobility. I had to remove every conf file from beryl and emerald i had on my system

rm -fR ~/.beryl*
rm -fR ~/.emerald*
rm -fR ~/.compiz*

Then installed all the git packages, also the compiz-icon thing, and the emerald-git and emeradl-themes git.

Then i had to change a setting on the compiz-icon thing, under "Compiz Option -- Loose Binding" and unmark it.

All working well now smile

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

How about the 4 viewports? I have troubles in visualizing them on KDE. I know there's a workaround, called kicker-compiz or something like that, but it's not so functional, since every time I restart the session I have to set it back to 1 desktop, 4 viewports. Any hint?
I have also noticed that this happens on Gnome as well now, whereas with the old Compiz or Beryl, the workspace switcher worked just fine.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Thanks, with that command, the desktops are working properly... too bad they're 16 and I can't reduce them to 4. Do I still need to use kicker-compiz?
Thanks

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

compiz-icon kept blocking my system (Nvidia GeForce 7600gt 256mb - PCI-E). Turns out it was the Indirect Rendering option, just remove it from the default options in compiz-icon.py and it should work.

Just posting here in case someone's has the same issue I had smile

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

These packages are superb, massive thanks to nesl247 big_smile

I'm having the problem that Compiz won't work with XFCE4, but running 'compiz-manager' makes everything work flawlessly. However, trying such things as

$ compiz-manager -fi
$ compiz

doesn't make the ordinary 'compiz' command work sad  Any suggestions? I'd rather be starting it up properly.
