I am trying to make an IceWM theme for my sister's PC that matches Windows XP very closely.
I have a copy of Windows XP but the 'shell.dll' containing the icons doesn't seem to allow me to extract the icons in anything other than 16x16.
Does anyone know where I can get a 48x48 set of official Windows XP icons? Or, can anyone tell me how I can extract the icons from my Windows XP install?

Well, these icons should sit inside a DLL file called shell32.dll, if I am not mistaken, as a resource. You'd have to find a tool to extract resources from a DLL, I guess you should be able to find something like that on sourceforge.

Maybe just make some sreenshots of XP and then reproduce icons from large images with gimp?
Or ... http://www.xp-icons.com/
