Hi,
I've just installed Amarok but am having problems actually running it. When it first downloaded, it appeared in the gnome applications menu. I attempted to load it and got a qt error. Did a little reading and found a possible solution was to log out and back in again.
I did that but when I did, the Amarok icon was missing from the Gnome menu. I then tried to load it from the command line with
#amarokbut I receive an error stating that the command cannot be found.
I've verified that the package exists on my system with pacman -Q.
Thanks

Try running it w/the full path:
$/opt/kde/bin/amarokAnd see what happens.
Edit: I usually search for the executable file too. Just to make 100% sure it's where it's supposed to be.

if you just installed amarok the PATH variable needs to be updated because kde is still installed in /opt, make sure you source /etc/profile or log out and log back in

Just tried the full command and received the following error:
/opt/kde/bin/amarok: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
- gotta do some research now and find out how to fix that
Edit -
ok reinstalled qt and got a little further. Now get a pop-up box stating
Amarok could not be started!
This may be because the amarokapp binary is not in your PATH.
Try locating and running amarokapp from a terminal.
And in the terminal I get
Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
Thanks
J

Did you do what hacosta suggested, i.e. logging out and logging back in ?
