problem with a new a7n8x board

hi, I just bought a new pc with a asus a7n8x-vm/400 board

Chipset     NVIDIA nForce2 IGP
                       NVIDIA nForce2 MCP
VGA     -Integrated GeForce4 MX GPU
           -Integrated TV encoder
            -NVIDA nVIEW dual-display architecture
-Support DVI (AGP-NV-DVI) and TV out (AV/S) cards
Audio     Realtek ALC650 6-channel CODEC
           S/PDIF in / out interface
LAN     Integrated 10/100 Mbps LAN controller + Realtek 8201BL PHY
USB 2.0 Integrated 6 USB2.0 ports

and nothing to do, I can't have my nic to work, I've tried 8139too & forcedeth modules without good results :? also there's no eth0 when I "ifconfig", but my rc.conf & modprobe.conf (kernel 2.6) are ok. I've tried with kernel 2.4 without result too, also I've tried the NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0261.tar.gz to try the nvnet module again with no success. It should be my 3rd Arch Box, but since last night it's just not working. maybe I'm just missing something basic? if someone get this hardware any help will be appreciate. thanx in advance

Re: problem with a new a7n8x board

I have the 'deluxe' version of that board with kernel 2.6, both nic's are recognized without a problem.

In /etc/rc.conf i use the "3c59x forcedeth" modules in the 'MODULES' section. Not sure if in your board it only needs forcedeth.
If you use 2.4 kernels, that nic is not supported, you will need the nvnet patch.

Just to be sure, do a lspci on that computer an see if linux can detect all the hardware.

Re: problem with a new a7n8x board

If it makes you feel better, I will admit that I have never gotten the nforce NIC to work (for more than a few miracle minutes) under any distro of linux. sad

If you got the deluxe version of the board, you would've had a 3com nic you can use with built in kernel drivers.
