Cups / USB Printer problems. [solved]

Hi,

I am currently having problems getting my Kyocera FS 1016 printer working with Cups. Ive gone through the forums and tried all the various fixes that other people had tried. I added acl to the fstab which got rid of the error I was getting in the logs.
Cups detects the printer automatically and installs it fine. But when I try and print something the printer wakes up, but nothing happens after that, Cups claims that the print job was successful which really does not help since there are no apparent errors. If I try and print a test page from Cups it just instantly says the job was completed.
I have gs and foomatic installed. Setting the logs to debug show up no apparent problems. /dev/usb/lp1 exists. usbcore is in the rc.conf modules section.

I dont really know where to go from here as Ive not really dealt with Linux printing much in the past. Ive googled till I cant google no more and still cant seem to figure it out.

Any help appreciated smile

Thanks.

Re: Cups / USB Printer problems. [solved]

Sorry, I solved this problem. It was two seperate issues, first when I did a pacman -Suy, it asked me if I wanted to replace foomatic with foomatic-db-engine as I did an update after installing the printer to see if that helped and I wrongly said yes. After reinstalling foomatic a new error popped up in the logs which was gs command not found... reinstalled ghostscript and everything works. roll

User error all the way sorry.
