wireshark without GTK stuff (just tshark)

I hate having to install everything the GUI depends on just to get tshark. I'm running Arch on a server, so I'd rather not have this stuff installed.

I think you could try 'pacman -Sd wireshark' to skip gtk2 and then gradually install the other dependencies listed in 'pacman -Si wireshark | grep Dep'. There might be more missing, like glib2 perhaps.

Will that try to install GTK2 etc the next time I use pacman -Syu? Otherwise that's a pretty neat trick.

If there's no gtk2 on the system then it won't get upgraded or pulled in. Simple as that. tongue

You could use ABS to build your own wireshark-package...
Just modify the PKGBUILD and run makepkg...

Yes, but I don't want to do that. I'd rather have just tshark in AUR so it can go into community later.
