hibernate loop in kde

I configured KDE's klaptop to use ACPI which allows me to use its utility to hibernate or give warnings when the battery level is at a particular rating.  However, at times, it goes into a hibernate loop:  it will spontaneously hibernate and after booting and successfully resuming, it hibernates again.  The way to break the loop is to issue a ctrl + alt + backspace to kill the xsession.

Anyone had this error or have a clue on how to fix?
