Some arch performance figures

A guy on the ubuntu forums benchmarked gentoo, arch and zenwalk on the same system and got some interesting results. He only used one game to test it, and obviously the results aren't definitive proof of which distro is fastest, but I find it interesting that arch wins by a few fps.

Re: Some arch performance figures

interesting that he didn't test ubuntu, even though it's the ubuntu forum. i would have liked to have seen those results along with the others (though maybe the ubuntu users wouldn't, which is why they weren't included tongue).

and what is the big hang up people have about graphical package managers (post #2)? i just don't get that. besides, isn't there a gui pacman in AUR?

I'd assume people just get used to having a GUI for everything (and probably also getting the choice of installing one during the initial install) and therefore see it as a problem when they have to install one by themselves (oh the horror). As far as I know there's at least one GUI for pacman in AUR.
