Re: What Laptops do you recomend for installing Arch Linux.

I second this having bought Lenovo ThinkPad R60. ATI's graphics card may be a (the, if you are into compizes/beryls) minor annoyance, so you may be better off purchasing a laptop with Intel's graphics. Otherwise, it's great machine with well documented Linux support. And I'm talking of "low-end" R series, not of T wink

PS The latest T61s have Nvidia's graphics.

What about one of the Ubuntu laptops from Dell?  Those should have hardware that is well supported by Linux.

This may or may not be the right decision smile
My friend has just told me about his experiences with Dell 1501. According to him, everything works OK except Wi-Fi. Not that I have anything against Wi-Fi via Ndiswrapper, but I would prefer some other way. Some more on 1501: Your Dell 1501 is Ready

IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad (I've used T43 and T21 with very good results). I don't know about the lower-end Lenovo Thinkpads (3000 series), however.

3000s aren't even called ThinkPads. For a reason, I suppose.

I recommend Zepto! Quite priceworth, good quality, nice support, and on the top hardware. I got a Zepto Znote 6214w and everything works fine.

system76?

www.system76.com

I have a dell inspiron 1501, works everythings fine!, there are 2 ways to get the wireless to work, 1 is ndiswrapper, the other one is the bcm43xx module, but you have to extract de firmware with bcm43xx-fwcutter and then it will run properly. But I use ndiswrapper and everything work just fine!
