copy-protected DVD playing issues?

Good day, I'm having a problem with playing DVD movies.

The problem is that non-protected DVDs play perfectly, whereas copy-protected ones do not at all (tried with mplayer, vlc, ogle).
The question is, how could I solve this problem.
I have no idea what the problem could be, since I have both libdvdread and libdvdcss installed from the arch servers.

Does anything show up in /var/log/messages or dmesg when this happens?  Have you ever played DVDs with this player before?
