I've heard about VMware and Qemu etc. Basically I need to be able to run a certain tax program on linux which will not run in wine. It needs to be able to print and connect to the internet, can I do that in a virtual machine which is running windows? Also which virtual machine should I use, the main thing is, its got to be easy to use and install windows. If its free and its fast, thats just a bonus.

I suggest VirtualBox, it should do what you're looking for.

It doesn't get any easier than Virtualbox. And you can also use it to experiment with other OS's.
There's some more discussion against the relevant packages in the AUR.

Hello.
Sorry for kidnapping the thread
I also wanted a virtual environment and installed Virtualbox OSE.
Installation worked fine, I'm in right group.
It seems I got some nasty locale or font problems, and I don't know where to start looking for solutions.
When I start up it looks like this:
I'd appreciate any pointers.
*EDIT: Spelling..
*EDIT 2:
When I started it from command line I got: Qt WARNING: QFont::setRawName(): Invalid XLFD: "xft:Bitstream Vera Sans Mono:pixelsize=10"
I remember I had added two lines in .Xdefaults a while ago, and before I remove them I'd be happy to know if these affect qt apps like VB:
*font: xft:Bitstream Vera Sans Mono:pixelsize=10
xterm*faceName: Bitstream Vera Sans Mono:pixelsize=10
