gnome deskbar-applet continuous crashing

Hello folks, set up a new archlinux box today using the gnome environment.
The deskbar-applet (2.18.1-2) crashes immediately every time i want to use it (it's a little bit of my killer-app, really addicted to it ).

The problem is, that it freezes the whole X11 so i have to Ctrl+Alt+Del the server. Sometimes, the gnome bug reporting tool appears, but the system is already frozen, so i get no information what happened.

Anybody the same problem with deskbar-applet? Any hints, how to get information about what goes wrong?
