Building gnomesword 2.2.3 fails...works with gtkhtml 3.12.3 [SOLVED]

Hey all,

I would like to start out by saying that this is my first AUR.  So if there is anything I should be reading/doing first, please let me know.

I am trying to get gnomesword 2.2.3 to build and work.  After some tinkering, I have found that if gtkhtml 3.12.3 is installed, gnomesword will build and run fine, but after I do a:

# pacman -Syu

gtkhtml updates to 3.14.2 and I get error:

$ gnomesword2
gnomesword2: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkhtml-3.8.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Doing some more looking, I found http://brion.inria.fr/ara/show?package=38090, and it showed a dependency as gtkhtml3.8.  What would be the best way to handle this?  Do I need to worry about a legacy package?  Can I add a patch or something in the AUR to get it to work with gtkhtml 3.14.2?  That would be preferred.  Or do I need to work with the gnomesword devs?  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:  Gnomesword works fine with gtkhtml 3.12.3 installed.  I am just not sure what other apps/packages it will break?

Re: Building gnomesword 2.2.3 fails...works with gtkhtml 3.12.3 [SOLVED]

Talked to a guy called tee on #gnomesword (freenode) and here was the conversation:

TripleE: hey tee, will 2.3 work with gtkhtml 3.14.2?
TripleE: I am running archlinux, but have to use gtkhtml 3.12.3 with 2.2.3
tee: not sure if it will or not -- 2.2.x in svn will and 2.2.4 will when it's released
tee: sorry
TripleE: did not try svn.  I will have to.  Thanks.
TripleE: do you know when 2.2.4 will be released?
TripleE: or is there not firm time yet?
tee: right after sword 1.5.10

I will try SVN and see if I can get it working.  I am still open to suggestions?

rebuild gnomesword with gtkhtml  3.14.2 installed on your system. This will probably fix it.

Re: Building gnomesword 2.2.3 fails...works with gtkhtml 3.12.3 [SOLVED]

Thanks for the tip, but it did not work.  I do have:

$ pacman -Qs gtkhtml
local/gtkhtml 3.14.2-1
    A lightweight HTML renderer/editor widget
local/libgtkhtml 2.11.0-1
    An HTML library for GTK

I get:

make[3]: Entering directory `/tmp/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-2.2.3/src/editor'
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/Editor.idl', needed by `Editor-common.c'. Stop.
make[3]: Leaving directory `/tmp/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-2.2.3/src/editor'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-2.2.3/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-2.2.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2
==> ERROR: Build Failed.  Aborting...

Is SVN a better option?  Is there a easy way to learn how to build the SVN other than the wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arc … guidelines)?  I am getting an error doing that too:

make[3]: *** [module_manager.o] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/eric/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-build/trunk/gnomesword/src/backend'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/eric/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-build/trunk/gnomesword/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/eric/gnomesword/src/gnomesword-build/trunk/gnomesword'
make: *** [all] Error 2
==> ERROR: Build Failed.  Aborting...

EDIT:  With the current version of gtkhtml (3.14.2) installed, gnomesword (2.2.3) will not run.  Nor will it build from source or from SVN (rev 1877).  Of course, I am not sure that I am doing it right from SVN.

Re: Building gnomesword 2.2.3 fails...works with gtkhtml 3.12.3 [SOLVED]

Alright, it looks like jared was able to get gnomesword svn rev 1881 built successfully.  So, I built a PKGBUILD and created a gnomesword-svn for anyone that wants to run it.  This is my first SVN PKGBUILD.  So if I did anything wrong on it or if it can be made better, please let me know so I can correct it.
