I can mount cdrom manualy with mount /dev/cdrom /media. But that's not so practical.I have HAL daemon in rc.conf. I put myself into HAL,dbus group. I get this error when cdrom automounts:
Failed to mount "Name of cdrom".
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/dvd,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.
On other CD/RW drive it can automount CD-Rom, but if I push button I get this:
Failed to eject "/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_CRW5232/AAO".
Given device "/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_CRW5232/AAO" is not a volume or drive.
I need right click on Drive icon and than "Eject volume". I know that with HAL I don't need nothing to mess with in fstab.
I'm sad.I like very much XFCE interface, easy on eye.

Do you still have the cdrom and dvd entries in /etc/fsab?? Comment them out and see if that works
Hope that helps
