Re: DRI not enabling!

Ok, your xorg.conf is a mess, smile

Try running the following commands as root:

#Back up your old config
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf ~/xorg.conf.bak
X -configure
cp xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

That should get you a fresh clean xorg.conf with the right driver selected and all.  If DRI still dosn't work after this, post the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: DRI not enabling!

hmm.. i probably didn't add the user to the right group (anyway i dont know wich), but when i'm running glxgears as root all goes smooth, and when running it as normal user, the graphics are laggy.
what do i need to change for the user?

Re: DRI not enabling!

The group you need to add yourself to, can easily be found:

ls -l /dev/dri/

It's called video btw.

How can I change it to video group?

Re: DRI not enabling!

Add the following to your xorg.conf:

Section "DRI"
  # Allow only the video group
  Group 91
  Mode 0660
EndSection

Check /etc/group to make sure that 91 really is video on your system.

You don't want to do that... You don't want regular users to have raw access to your video device, all hard drives and such have similar permissions for the same reason.

-edit- Whoops, totally misread your post - I've corrected my own now. big_smile -edit-

Yes, you definitely don't want regular users raw access - see my xorg.conf modification to fix it.
