Make a VPN connection from Win2000 inside QEMU on Arch to a work PC?

After struggling with pptpclient, I thought maybe I could run Win2000 inside QEMU - and uses its VPN and RemoteDesktop apps to talk my PC at work.  My physical box dual-boots Arch and Win2000, and I can connect to work from my Win2000 native machine.  When I run Win2000 inside QEMU, the VPN connection fails to connect to my workplace's net-facing VPN server.  It hangs on "Verifying Username and Password".  I believe I am doing everything exactly the same inside the QEMU virtual Win2000 as I do when booted in to the real Win2000. My guess is that qemu's default networking support does not work with a remote Microsoft vpn server.  I am also using kqemu (which I had to disable during the install).  Arch is runnning on a laptop with a wired connection (no wireless going on here).  Is anyone able to use MS VPN support from within QEMU on Arch?

I do a similar thing using the Cisco VPN client, VMware, and WinXP. I have found that A) only recent versions of the cisco vpn client and VMware work with wireless (i.e. earlier versions only supported an ethernet connection), B) the VMware connection has to be bridged, and C) the cisco client has to use UDP, not TCP.

I don't know if any of this will help you, but it's my own experience.
