rhythmbox won't play anything [solved]

hrm...I can't get anything to play in Rhythmbox using GNOME. I have tried Oggs, mp3s, and flac files and i always get this error....

Playback Error
Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.  Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi … =GStreamer.

any ideas anyone?

Have you actually installed the gstreamer plugins needed?
Just a blind shot...

yup. I ran

gpasswd -a karam audio

before running rhythmbox. Actually this seems to be a gstreamer issue as my audio works in most software but i have no playback in rhythmbox or quod libet. well i am going to switch to mpd/sonata and see if i can get that to work. i was never a big fan of rhythmbox anyway as it has no id3 tag editing support.

I had similiar issues but cant remeber how I fixed them. Try install gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs package also.

well i have switched to mpd/sonata and i see no need to ever touch rhythmbox again. thanks for all the help though!
