Hello everybody! I'm new at the forum but I've installed arch several times and I love it
the problem:
Can't connect to any WEP protected wifi network. I've succesfully connected to open networks, took a while connecting to it though.
* KNetworkmanager actually recognizes the network...
* then I type the pass and stays right there for a lot of time sometimes at "configuring your device" or "getting IP address" step...
* ifconfig, iwconfig says...
My config
I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop, wich uses Intel IPW3945.
I'm using (K)Network manager, installed according to the wiki.
The wireless network is WEP-64 prottected.
on my rc.conf :
...
MODULES=(b44 mii snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-hda-intel soundcore ipw3945)
...
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
eth1="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo !eth0 !eth1)
...
gateway="default gw 10.10.1.1" ## this is not for the wifi net ... I don't know if NM do something with it
ROUTES=(!gateway)
....
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng cpufreq ipw3945d alsa netfs crond kdm hal dhcdbd networkmanager keytouch httpd mysqld postgresql)
Well... I think is a dhcp issue... I tried to explain my problem the best, so I hope for your help !!
thanks in advance!
* and sorry for my mapuche-like english haha
* and already RTFM'ed and STFW'ed and no success

I had a similar problem with my laptop when running the most recent verision of the ipw3945 driver (1.2.1-2). I downgraded the driver (got the driver from the link on the wiki on how to downgrade) and my wifi works perfectly with knetworkmanager.
I have yet to find a solution to get the most recent driver work on encrypted networks w/ networkmanager.
Hope this helps,
Matt

Thanks!!
well, I've downloaded and installed the package, but as I can see, this driver is for kernel 2.6.21 and I have kernel 2.6.22 so modprobe wasn't able to find it...
then I tried to install the driver from its sources ( http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/#downloads ) ... I've downloaded 1.2.0 and followed the instructions, but the problem persist...
someone has any idea without wi fi I'm condenned to wi$%ws v%&ta...home !!!
