Network sometimes doesn't work... [SOLVED!]

I recently installed splashy, added this "dirty" patch to /etc/rc.d/splashy to fix my problem with the lines on top of the screen:

/sbin/splashy shutdown 2> /dev/null && sleep 1 && killall splashy

See here for more info:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=35474

But this seems to have added more problems. Sometimes the internet refuses to connect. And when I try

/etc/rc.d/network start

It shows an error, which I will post in a min, because my network is working (obviously) so a few restarts will make it work...

EDIT: Here's the error:

Error, eth0: ioctl SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

Hope one of you can figure this out!

EDIT: Installing NetworkManager seems to have worked...for now. I will post if it breaks.
