Kmix Keeps Starting Even When "Restore Volumes" on Login Disabled

Any idea how to stop kmix from starting completely i.e not resorting to dcop scripts which simply hide kmix.

I assume you already know kmix comes in two flavours? one "panel applet" and one "standard application". The latter sits in the system tray, and starts with session if you have it that way. The former is an applet and by that i mean KDE session management have no control of it. Which one are you talking about?

Yes I know about the 2 versions and the one I'm having trouble stopping from opening the main window is the panel applet. The other one can be stopped using dcop.

Restore volumes is the checkbox option in the application and no I don't use saved session.

dcop kmix kmix-mainwindow#1 hide

... hides the main window when the kmix application is opened. But this doesn't seem to work with the the applet version of kmix.

The reason i couldn't give you an answer is that i've never experienced this behavior in kde, unless kmix is started up the wrong way, or if kmix is launched two times at kde init, which is possible if you use a saved "session" and/or "applet" and/or .kde/Autostart/ and/or "restore volumes on login" setting in kmix...

The bottom line is, there is _something_ wrong with your kde install/config, but if you feel that your solution with dcop is acceptable, then i'm glad you "solved" it.

Sorry my bad... I tink the script which I wrote to run dcop ran before kmix window is even opened. Putting "sleep 3" helps.
