Failure to get ALSA settings saved

Hi,

I've installed the alsa-lib, alsa-oss and alsa-utils packages, and then I ran "alsaconf" as root, and then "alsamixer" as a normal user, unmuting the Master, PCM and CD channels. Then I ran "alsactl store" as root.

I thought this should have been enough to store my sound settings but after a system reboot Master, PCM and CD channels are once again muted and I need to rerun alsamixer to get sound working. So it looks like "alsactl store" doesn't really save my sound configuration, like I think it should.

Any advice how I could get my current sound settings to survive over a system reboot?

Re: Failure to get ALSA settings saved

You have to add alsa to the daemon list in /etc/rc.conf for it to store your mixer settings.
