Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Hi I've been trying to figure out how to install compiz fusion but with no luck. I have added the required link provided by nesl247 in the last part of my /etc/pacman.conf.

#[compiz-fusion]
Server = http://arch.nesl247.org/compiz-fusion/i686

I can't seem to make my Pacman recognize the repository.

[jerry@JG-Arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Ss compiz
Password:
community/compiz-core 0.5.0-4 (compiz)
Composite manager for Aiglx and Xgl
community/compiz-decorator-gtk 0.5.0-3 (compiz)
    Decorator of Compiz for GNOME
community/compiz-decorator-kde 0.5.0-1 (compiz)
    Decorator of Compiz for KDE

[jerry@JG-Arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Ss compiz-fusion

[jerry@JG-Arch ~]$ sudo pacman -S compiz-fusion
error: 'compiz-fusion': not found in sync db

I followed the compiz fusion wiki and did the necessary changes in my xorg.conf I must be missing something... maybe its my location or I'm missing a backslash.

any help would be appreciated.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Remove the # sign like this :

[compiz-fusion]
Server = http://arch.nesl247.org/compiz-fusion/i686

and then pacman -Sys compiz-fusion

Arch - Home sweet home smile

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Just a little update on the issue of "slow menus".

I thought I had discovered the cause when I noticed that if I boot with "noacpi acpi=off" the menus would appear as quick as usual.

Sadly the issue has come back after a recent update... This time the booting with ACPI turned off doesn't help...

I have no idea what's causing this issue in the first place...

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Am I the only one getting crashes when ctr+alt+f? with compiz as windowmanager returning to kdm the cursor is left hanging if I'm lucky I can restart X. Otherwise its a hard reboot not sure whats happening can't see anything in the logs.

If it's just me does anyone know a fix?

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I don't know anything about number 2 goffix, but as for number 1. I do not manage those pkgbuilds and packages. That is done by deciare, and I haven't seen her on lately. Basically what it is, she uses my pkgbuilds and creates 64bit packages with them and puts them into the 64bit repo.

If I see her, I'll ask her what's going on, but don't hold your breath. Sorry.

I was just about to ask about this.  I had a tray icon before, but after a fresh install it has gone missing:

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

And another problem:

With indirect rendering enabled, whenever compiz tries to shut down (eg logout, restart x, etc.) it freezes the whole system and requires a hard reboot.  This is on both of my nVidia machines.  Anyone have a solution?  Without indirect rendering I get the black window bug...

Hi there!

@nesl247 Maybe i can help you. I have access to a server where you could mirror the packages. If you are interestet you can write me how much space you need an what your average traffic was, then i can ask the admin (good friend of mine).

In my experience this has been a problem with the new Nvidia 100+ drivers... This problem went away when I downgraded to Nvidia 96xx drivers.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Guys, the server will be up sometime today, hopefully soon. I'm sorry for the downtime. This shouldn't happen again though, as certain arrangements have been made to fund the server. Though donations are always welcome.

And as for all the offers for space and bandwidth. I might contact one of you in regards to setting up a backup mirror in case this happens again, which it shouldn't.

Thank you!
