Cannot boot any more due to errors

Hello,

Yesterday i updated my archlinux (it was like a week ago i did another update), and the update went good, like always.

But when i tried to restart my computer, he won't start any more. I get errors like these:

Failed to parse block device name for sdc2.
root fs cannot be detected.

Does somebody knows how i can fix this ? My arch is working for like 4 months and now it just won't boot any more? I didn't touch my grub.conf or something like that.

Re: Cannot boot any more due to errors

You need to specify your root filesystem type for the new kernel to work, if you've got ext3 you need to add " rootfstype=ext3" to your kernel line in grub's menu.lst, adjust the type if you've got another filesystem type.

BTW: if you can't get into another system anymore to edit the file, you can press 'e' in your grub menu, go to the kernel line and press 'e' again, add the parameter, press enter and press 'b' to boot with the adjusted settings. Then edited menu.lst to make it permanent.

Re: Cannot boot any more due to errors

is this a new behavior of grub? Or is it a arch-specific?
