[solved](gnome) - tracker-search-tool does not work

Hello everyone,

i wanted to try the tracker-gnome-search-tool and installed the following packages:

tracker-gnome-search-tool
tracker

After installation of the program and succesful login the trackerd starts and runs in the background but the search (or do you say query??) does not work.
A look into the tracker.log (~/.local/share/tracker) only shows me this:

02 Aug 2007, 15:42:39:628 - ERROR: unknown service Applications
02 Aug 2007, 15:42:39:630 - ERROR: unknown service Applications
02 Aug 2007, 15:42:39:632 - ERROR: unknown service Applications
02 Aug 2007, 15:42:39:634 - ERROR: unknown service Applications
and so on ...

Is there any solution?? Thanks a lot

yours

Tagedieb

p.s. i am sorry but english is a foreign language for me ... :-)

Have you tried to invoke "tracker-preferences" ?

Re: [solved](gnome) - tracker-search-tool does not work

Hi,
yes i did. But i did not find any preferences that could cause that error. Hmm... i mean this programm is not essential for and i just wanted to try it out. If i can not find a solution during the next days i will simply remove it.
Thank you und have a nice day

You need to set the directories you want to scan with tracker-preferences, otherwise it will not track anything. You also have to wait some time, till everything is tracked. Works flawlessly here.

Re: [solved](gnome) - tracker-search-tool does not work

Thanks a lot,
that was the solution, i added the folder /usr in the settings "additional paths to index and watch" and now it works.

p.s. habe gesehen, dass du aus Braunschweig bist. Viele Grüße eines Nürnbergers :-)
