I have installed multimedia codecs, and mplayer, vlc, xine, totem-xine there are some errors coming with this players.
First mplayer, when i make it fullscreen the video size still small but screen like full screen. And when it's really fullscreen working then the video really slowing but sound fine.
Second vlc, i compiled the vlc, it's fine playin dvd, vcd but when i want to watch mpeg, avi or something like that video freezes or too slow.
Xine shuts down my computer when i open something with it.
Totem-xine playing video slow too.
I have ati 1950gt video card, installed, working fine and playing games very well. I think this problem comes the codecs but which one, waiting your opinions.

The mplayer issue sounds like it is using regular x11 output, rather than a mode that make use of your graphics card's capabilities. Try "mplayer -vo xv <filename>" instead. For a full list of video output modes you can try type "mplayer -vo help". To change the default video output for mplayer add "vo=xv" (or whichever mode works best) to .mplayer/config

I tried this when i searched the forum about this problem but nothing changes.
Now i'm trying to compile mplayer, may be it's work

If You R still interested I'll tell You cause I've got also 1950gt video card.
I've also had bad experience with movies. But now I use
mplayer -vo gl -vf pp=fd -slang pl dvd://1 -fs -x 1024 -y 768
for DVD.
and
mplayer -idx -vo gl -fs -x 1024 -y 768 /ntfs/Users/j2k/Desktop/I_ROBOT/DMT_IROB.AVI
to movies.
Run commands only from terminal.
Kmplayer, kplayer, xine and others not working! [i don't why hangs up all the time... kplayer plays but bad quality]
This is my one solution. Please respond if it will works for you.
