[SOLVED] Gnome file picker icons under kde.

Hello,

I have been trying to find out how to install proper icons for the gnome file picker dialog which appears in gnome apps under kde (I use kdemod, tango icons). I hope this image shows what I mean; the icons on the left panel particularly bother me:

gnome-icons.png

Kde file dialog (and the rest of my system) uses tango icons correctly:

kde-icons.png

Also, gnome apps don't show customized folder icons in their file dialogs, as kde apps do. I guess this is normal, is it?

Is there a package I should install? I guess there is, because I had got it working accidentaly on a previous installation by frantically installing a lot of gnome packages: I was trying to compile gnucash at the time (got it working fine now).

Thanks a lot!

I think this article here does answer your question quite well

You might be interested in kgtk-wrapper.  It is a hack that makes GTK apps use the KDE file picker.  It doesn't work for all GTK apps, but it does for the major ones I use (e.g. Firefox, The Gimp and Avidemux) and hasn't caused any problems with them.  There is a PKGBUILD for it in the AUR.

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome file picker icons under kde.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies!

I've installed kgtk-wrapper and it works for half of the gnome apps I use: firefox and gimp. Still, they are the ones I use the most, so it is a very comfortable solution, allowing me to keep the file picker icons and places links. The other apps are much improved thanks to the article.

Great!
