speedstep and sound indicator

hi.
i have followed the following instructions from the wiki for my ThinkPad T42:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IBM … Speed_Step

the first problem is when i'm trying the command

modprobe speedstep_centrino

and

modprobe cpufreq_userspace

it says "operation not permitted". well, i understand that i need to give my user the privilegies, but when i chmod those dirs, it doesnt help. it seems i'm not doing it right...

and also, how can i autostart those commands so i dont have to enter them each time (adding to daemons didnt help, it says "no such file or directory".

the other problem is nothing special, but annoying, because i have this on ubuntu for example.
when use my sound buttons, the sound indicator doesnt change. it seems to be because ThinkPad buttons are wired directly to the soundcard, but still, on ubuntu the indicator changed.

thanks.
