[SOLVED] recommendations for video card

It seems like my Nvidia GeForce 7500 LE TC ist not supported. sad

Who can recommend a good video card ?

According to http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L … dix-a.html the GeForce 7500 LE is supported, is there any difference between LE and LE TC?

I'm using a 7600GS and it's working fine, best part? It's passive cooled, no annoying fan! :-D

EDIT:
On the list of supported GPUs they list the device PCI ID, the 7500 LE has the ID '0x01DD', to check yours run 'lspci -nn' and find your graphics card, it will look something like this:

05:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GS] [10de:0392] (rev a1)

The bold part is the PCI ID, in my case 0x0392, check if your PCI ID is the same as on that list, if so it should be supported.

gives me:

the list gives me:

Which means it should be supported by the 'nvidia' package, what errors did you get when you tried to use it?

Yeah, me neither. That's odd, do you get anything at all or does it just not work? Does it work with the vesa or nv driver, ie: is it just the propertiary driver that doesn't work?

I remember owning a monitor that did exactly the same when I tried to set a Resolution/Refreshrate it did not support. Maybe it is something like that happening here as well?

Also I think you'll get some more responses over at the Linux forums at nvnews.net. I think it is some kind of official nvidia forum - at least the developer of the nvidia linux driver hangs out there as well.

:lol:Shame on me - I made a stupid mistake when I plugged my monitor.
I plugged both D-SUB and DVI-D.  After I removed DVI-D everything worked fine again.
