[SOLVED] OpenOffice won't start. Solution: System upgrade.

It freezes at splash screen. I'm getting this at stderr:

[cthulhu@toshiba ~]$ soffice

(process:5229): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:5229): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

(process:5229): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed

Anyone experiencing the same? Any workaround?

Thank you!

Fully updated system, the app launches OK here from the command line (using Gnome). Know that does not help your problem, but at least you know it is not a general OOo problem.

If it was working before, maybe you can rename/delete the .openoffice.org2 directory in your home folder then restart openoffice to let it build the folder again.

check if you have latest gtk2. update to gtk2 2.10.14-1 caused similar problems. Latest gtk2 is gtk2 2.10.14-2 and this works with OO.org

pacman -Syu solved the problem yesterday - I had tried it before but didn't. rming .openoff* didn't help either.
