It's really annoying that firefox decides to keep it's own "style" when theming gnome. The other day i installed a theme with a colored menu toolbar, and what happens? All applications but firefox adapt font color to make the text readable...
And now i decided to use an italic "application" font, and you know what? Every application but firefox has italic as default font. This is infuriating.
So i tried epiphany, and to be honest, i've never really tried it out before. This is an amazing little browser If you're a firefox "power user" you might disagree though. Too bad the top ten firefox extensions haven't been ported to epiphany, and besides that, epiphany would have to support extension in the first place...

Firefox's extension support is the crack that keeps many, many people from using a different browser.
I know I'm a crack -- I mean extension -- addict.

The Firefox 3 alphas conform a lot more to the rest of your desktop, though I'm not sure if you'd want to use alpha software just for that. At least it's something to look forward to.

I use Opera.

Opera is not a GTK app, however. So it REALLY doesn't follow your theming conventions (assuming the OP is using GTK apps)
Yes, I've tried all of the above, and I'm back on the fox.
But I feel like if I didn't need greasemonkey, kazehakase would be the best browser ever.

Hi,
[...] and besides that, epiphany would have to support extension in the first place...
did you try the package epiphany-extensions?
Offline
I didn't know it existed, until you mentioned it... That's nice and all, but i am already satisfied with epiphany as it is, apart from this _one_ firefox extension i use extensively - downloadthemall...
Maybe i could do (code) something like dta with the "Actions" extension? Will have to investigate further.

I hadn't thought of that. I guess you could use wget for that. Good idea btw

I always use the Tiny Meny extension so that I don't have the huge firefox menu bar. It solves part of the problem. I wonder if it were possible to code an extension that would allow firefox to conform to GTK themes with greater accuracy?

use a theme that doesn't cover the gtk interface, im using the smallstark theme and it uses my gtk theme for everything but icons.

Or, if you don't mind the NuoveXT themes, both 1.6 and 2.2 have firefox themes that match the GTK theme exactly (well, it's just the icons and it doesn't cover the rest, but that's the final effect).

Another thing you could consider is firefox 3 nightly which has better support for gtk although most plugins don't work for it yet.
