Hello, when I have upgraded the entire system yesterday, amarok doesn't work. It tells me that:
[davigetto@samantha ~]$ amarok
Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
Amarok: [Loader] Amarok is taking a long time to load! Perhaps something has gone wrong?
And the program never loads.
What's the matter?

One thing you could try is to uninstall then re-install amarok.

I've got the same problem. Removed and reinstalled. Renamed /home/user/.kde/share/apps/amarok folder.
Deleted /home/user/.kde/share/config/amarok*
It starts, and locks. The splash screen stays up unless I click on it, and the Amarok window is locked.

Was the kernel headers the only package that was upgraded? If not, what were the other package?

For what it's worth, I've been compiling amarok from svn semi-regularly and haven't run into such problems.

I ran amarokapp in gdb, interrupted it once it locked. It was looping into libasound.
I rebooted the machine, and things are now working.
