Re: help on choosing compatible bluetooth adapter

Google for "<manufacturer> <model no> Linux" - works for me at least 95% of the time. smile

Re: help on choosing compatible bluetooth adapter

I second tomk's advice.

The model number is the important part, since chipsets tend to change from model to model, and not necessarily from manufacturer to manufacturer.

That said, so far I've been able to use every bluetooth dongle I've had with linux, even a Broadcom one (had to compile some svn stuff to get SCO to work with it, though).

Re: help on choosing compatible bluetooth adapter

I found this page very useful:

http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/features.html

From http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/devices.html
"If the HCI Version field is filled in this table, then this device should also work perfect with Linux."

I don't know when it was updated last, I used it almost 2 years ago, but it has a lot of bluetooth devices listed.
