I was looking through some of the Arch artwork in that forum, just hunting for some interesting new wallpaper, and I saw bunches of screenshots that feature a very Mac OS X looking desktop, with something that looks like a Dock on the bottom and so on. Can anyone tell me what desktop environment that is? I don't think its KDE!:)

It's very likely the dock you're looking at is AWN. It's available in AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … 1&ID=12294
There's also an extras package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … 1&ID=12603
As for the rest of the environment, there was a large project by AqD involving a hacked gtk2 and some crafty xfce4 or gnome applets/panels. That project seems to have evaporated with AqD's absence, however. If you do a search for gtk2-aqd on the forums, you might be able to trawl something up.

Thanks buttons. Since it is gnome based (I looked it up on line, it is) I will give it a pass. Also, it seems to need XGL or AIGLX loaded, plus a compositor like Beryl - starts to sound like a lot of work. I think I will stick with good 'ol KDE. Thanks for the pointer though - most helpful.
