Sudo whinges after update

After

[2007-08-21 21:18] upgraded sudo (1.6.9p3-2 -> 1.6.9p4-1)

I get the following every time I sudo:

sudo: /lib/libpam.so.0: no version information available (required by sudo)

It still lets me sudo things, so I'm not locked out of my computer yet, thankfully.  Any ideas where the error is coming from?

EDIT: Whoa.  Can't shutdown from xfce anymore after this upgrade!  Downgraded to 1.6.9p3 and I could again.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

I have the same problem here.

Rebuilding sudo and installing it fixes the issue.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

I only have sudo installed for launching one particular application, and so I didn't notice right away.

However, after seeing this thread, I checked, and I also get the same error message you do. Also, like you, the message doesn't impede the command execution.

Don't have any other issues as far as I can tell thus far, so I'll leave it as is and wait for a fix.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

Same issue with XFCE....  I don't have the old version floating around to downgrade but I'll manage!

Edit: recompiling sudo fixes this.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

Try *rebuilding* sudo and install the resulting package.
Just reinstalling sudo or pam won't solve this issue.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

It's not only related with sudo. I have similar issue with samba. Maybe new packages was built with pam from testing.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

Same here. (sudo: /lib/libpam.so.0: no version information available (required by sudo))
I'd be interested to know what's the potential damage estimate here... until new pkg is available.

Re: Sudo whinges after update

I can confirm rebuilding sudo (which links against your own pam) works just fine.

Which isn't needed anymore because the new PAM entered the repos now. smile

Re: Sudo whinges after update

yes, this fixed it - after pacman -Syu which installed new PAM sudo (and logout dialog in xfce4) works fine again!
