Hi there,
I've just installed a raid card with two 250GB harddrives doing mirroring, and am having a hard time deciding whether to make one large partition or not. I'd rather have one big partition, and then make symbolic links to whatever I need it for.
But the question I'm looking for an answer to is if that would make the system slower, or if there is a partition max size that I should not exceed.
From google I got the impression that the size of an ext3 partition could very well be 4TB, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried lvm, but don't really like it. I've kinda old school, and want my partitions to stay where I tell them to.
What do you say?
Edit: Forgot to tell you that it's only my user data that will be stored in the raid. The system itself is on a normal harddrive. I can rebuild the system quick enough, so that's no problem for me.
