Re: Bye Arch :( --> Gnome

The only crash bug I see on these forums you mentioned (and I'll note you didn't use the bug tracker, which is what one should do for bugs...) should have been fixed a while ago.  Someone had decided to upload GTK2.2 without checking the facts (namely, that libgnomeui 2.0.x crashes on GTK2.2), but I've had GNOME2.2 in for a while now - it should no longer crash if you properly upgrade your system.

If it is still crashing, a comprehensive bug report would make it a lot easier to be debugged.  "It crashed" doesn't help in the least.

What?

Sorry to see you give up so soon. As for Gnome, well everything has since been replaced and Gnome works fine on my system. Even games which I had problems with in earlier Gnome versions seem to run fine.

If you've recently updated (latest is 2.2.1) and still have problems then we need to know that to help track down the problem. There are endless possibilities for why it could fail including missing libraries, bad configuration files and even improperly starting the desktop.

Re: Bye Arch :( --> Gnome

we don't have gnome 2.2.1, just 2.2.0 - i started trying to build the 2.2.1 packages this morning, but the gnome ftp servers seem to be borked (keep giving invalid server response errors).

What?

Ok, I was basing this on version numbers which pacman gave when updating my laptop. This was early Saturday (US central time) and IIRC the packages had 2.2.1. It seems that my mismatched Gnome works though.
