Preparing my workstation for offline life.

Hello,

Soon i will take my computer away from any internet connection.

I would like to set it up nicely for ethernet shares between all 3 major OSs (Mac, Linux(all sorts) and Windows)
Is setting up samba enough for it to be plug'n'play? I want to be able to plug the cable and be able to send/receive files without much trouble.

I also have a macbook pro, i heard talks about remotely controlling another computer through VNC. Is there a guide i can follow so i can configure my mac to access the workstation that has Arch installed?

Can i use my Mac as a "server" for pacman to install one or another package/upgrade? (this is not important, just a curiosity i guess)
